Pivot-Specific Translation
What each number means on a 40m court

Every verified metric translated to a specific demand of the pivot role.

0.91s
5m sprint
The first step out of a press. Elite over 5m turns a hold-up moment into a break — the difference between the pivot being bounced off the ball and the pivot beating the defender to the second phase.
34 km/h
Top speed
Closing the 1v1 with the GK. When the pivot breaks in behind the last line, top-end pace decides whether the GK reaches the ball first. Verified across PROformance, STATSports GPS in match, and PlayerMaker boot data.
60cm
Countermovement Jump
Aerial reach in the attacking third. Winning a keeper's long throw or a clearance dropping into the final part of the court. Elite vertical means Joe gets to the ball first when it hangs in the air ahead of a defender.
305cm
Broad Jump
Lateral power in hold-up. The core power that lets the pivot shrug a defender off a shoulder in a duel with back to goal — the physical currency of retaining possession under pressure.
6'2" · 84kg
Frame
Physical presence on a small court. A pivot with size and mass sets the reference point the whole team plays through. Defenders cannot easily bump him off the ball.
